Hi, my name is Kyle. I’ve been a student at New Creations for about four months. Before I came here, I had a lot of problems. My parents and I pretty much had no relationship at all. We hardly ever talked or anything. It was like living with two strangers. Also, another thing you should know about me is that music is my passion. I played in a heavy metal band back home. I loved doing it, too, but for some reason I was always depressed and had no idea why.

Due to the lack of relationship with my parents and depression, I turned to drugs and alcohol. Obviously, the drinking and drugs didn’t help my depression. It made it worse. I was always depressed and often thought of suicide.

When I first came to New Creations, I was not happy at all, and was very angry, hateful and bitter toward a lot of people and didn’t want anything to do with New Creations. After about a month of being here, God gave me a verse. John 6:65-68 which says, “He went on to say this is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the father has enabled him. From this many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. You do not want to leave too, do you? Jesus asked the twelve. Simon Peter answered him, Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

When God gave that to me, it really opened my eyes to think, “Where am I gonna go?” If I wasn’t at New Creations, I’d probably be dead or in jail. It made me realize I could basically start my life over and become the man God created me to be. Ever since then, my view and perspective on life has changed tremendously. And I know I am truly better because of the Lord.
