My name is Vincent from California. I am 16. My parents kept warning me that they would send me somewhere if I continued my druggie lifestyle. I never believed my parents. I thought they were just trying to scare me. I didn’t know that I would come to New Creations until the day before my first day here.
My first month here, I was in denial. My second day I tried to run away and go back home. I was homesick for the first couple of months. I was having withdrawals missing my old lifestyle and my old friends. I realized, after a while, that I can make friends here. Now everybody in the boys dorm is like a brother to me. Although I miss home, I have realized that I can be somebody better than the old me.
Boarding School can and does help young people become responsible adults and gain self-respect. A Boarding School can even help them rediscover the love of learning.
Another part about that is that the thing that changes us is not boarding school–it’s the eternal love of Jesus!! That’s what creates the real transition in our hearts.
What New Creations is…is a young person deciding to take a period of time “away” from life, specifically to work on their relationship with God. Actually it makes sense. The Bible teaches if we will draw near to God, He will draw near to us. As these teens take the time to work on their relationship with their Heavenly Father, they are able to overcome the issues that have seemed to plague them in the past, through the development of their relationship with God. When they find God is on their side they are finally able to face, and overcome things that have been a problem for months or even years. In the end they are all overcommers through Christ!!!
