A young man came to me who said he had felt unloved by nearly everyone in his life. Many had said they loved him, but due to their actions, their words were cheap. He was brought back to I Corinthians 13, and we studied the meaning of the word love. It was not helpful at the time to engage in an argument of who does and does not love this young man. Through the Word of God, the Holy Spirit will reveal His Truth in every situation. As love is consistently walked out before him in his life, his heart is breaking and being molded back into the form of child-likeness.
In our society, the word Love has come to mean anything but that which God intended. At New Creations, we not only tell the students that we love them, but we strive to live out the meaning of love through our patience, kindness, longsuffering and other characteristics noted in that popular text from I Corinthians.
Through the years, many students have come and gone. Through their own personal experiences, many have struggled in their faith. Many have had times where all hope seemed gone. However, very few ever feel unloved when they leave our campus. It is that loving relationship that keeps students calling staff members, keeping in touch, and seeking ministry from New Creations decades after they leave our campus.
“…now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.”
